Marlow is a thriving and beautiful town in Buckinghamshire with a population of 17,000. It sits on the bank of the River Thames and is famous for its fine suspension bridge which was built between 1829-1832. There are many fine period buildings along the High Street and West Street (mainly Georgian), and beautiful walks along the river.
Marlow is both picturesque and rural. However, it is situated very close to both the M4 and M40 motorways, and is within easy commuting distance of London. and to the rest of the UK via the motorway network. It is 15 miles from Heathrow airport.
For visitors, and residents, there are a wealth of local attractions in Marlow including our unique shopping experience with a wide variety of independent businesses, a good selection of national and regional chain stores, great accommodation and plenty of interesting places to eat and drink. You can take a look inside many of the town's best shops, restaurants, salons, and accommodation by visiting our Business Directory on the Home Page.
We have a fascinating history too. In the 11th century, Marlow was ringed by monastic foundations, and the remains of a 12th century chapel and crypt still exist at Widmer Farm. In St. Peter Street you will find The Old Parsonage and Deanery, which form part of the finest 14th century house in Buckinghamshire. Marlow Place, which dates from 1721, formed part of the Royal Military College before it moved to Sandhurst in 1812.
Just along the river is the superb 18th century Court Garden House, which is now part of a leisure complex.
Marlow is a great place to live and a great place to visit!
